This was the FIRST TIME Lauren was left on a hot bus. The weather almanac for the time she was neglected was at or above 90 degrees and the heat index was over 105 degrees. When Lauren was discovered, she was entirely soaked with sweat and had an elevated body temperature from the heat. Bolus fluids were administered and she was sent to her residential facility. EMS was not notified and Lauren was not seen medically by anyone other than in-house employees of Empowering People, Inc. subsidiaries - TheClw (Adult Day Servies) and Takoda Trails (Intermediate Care Facility and Residential Home)
Furthermore, the initial report stated that Lauren was on the bus from 10:15 - 11:45. While that's dangerous enough, witness statements contradict that time frame and show that the bus arrived at the facility by 9:30 am and that she initially boarded the bus at 9:15. Lauren was left to sit by herself for 2 hours and 15 minutes on one of the hottest days of the year. She's lucky she survived.
