Lauren has been fed through a G-Tube since she was 4 months old. She has also had issues with bowel movements for her entire life as well. To a large degree, her nutrition and expulsion is nothing short of a science project. Her intake is tracked and her output is to be tracked as well. She was to be on laxatives/stool softeners but for some reason they had been discontinued. So it came as a surprise when the call came. "Lauren has some coffee ground looking emesis coming out of her mouth and out of her stomach. We're sending her to the hospital".
This is alarming!
When Lauren had her G-Tube installed, she also had a procedure completed that is designed to prevent reflux. She should not have fluids coming up out of her mouth. She should also not have it OOZING OUT OF HER STOMACH!
At the hospital, the emergency staff pumped 2 liters of fluid out of her 4'9", 77# body! She had to be sedated in the ER and for most of her stay in a room while she was monitored.
Quite simply, due to malpractice, Lauren was simply overfilled to the point of expulsion. The fluids were coming up out of her mouth and could have easily been aspirated, and they were coming out of her surgical implant area. It's just not supposed to happen in that manner.
