Families First Quality Care for Intellectually Developmentally Disabled Individuals

Families, willing and able to do so, need to be the First Line of Defense and Default Position of our care system for individuals with Intellectual Developmental Disability (IDD) conditions.

Our Mission will pursue legislative changes in all states in support of placing families at the top of the list for IDD Care. 

Two things are critical to understand when promoting Families First IDD Care.
1) Families DO NOT win the parent lottery when their IDD individual appears in their lives. 

2) We're spending money now on IDD care, we're just spending it on Inefficient, Inhumane and Dangerous environments. 

Currently, Accountability, Consequences and Repercussions are simply non-existent within the Upper Management and Ownership levels of IDD care companies. At best, only low-level peons ever face any sort of legal accountability for their actions.

However, there are literally thousands of reports annually documenting the Neglect and Abuse that exists in care facilities.

This will change when, and only if, the top echelons of these organizations are held criminally, legally, responsible for the crimes perpetrated in their operations. When events of Neglect and Abuse occur, they almost universally follow the existence of similar acts that have previously happened. 

In the 1970's, Geraldo Rivera gained a tremendous amount of notoriety for his reporting on the state of institutional care in America. Based on a 30 year life time of experience, it's painfully evident that the only things that have changed over the decades are the architecture, land scaping and paint jobs. Don't be fooled by how an IDD property looks from the street! The real nightmare is what is going on inside. It's long past time for these situations to actually be changed for the benefit of those already beset with tremendous obstacles in their lives. 

This is a life mission and passion!
In order to pursue it with the resolve and dedication necessary, we seek partners to help with the cause. We have the drive to fight the fight and simply ask for financial assistance to get the job done. We are not tax exempt and have no plan to be, so we ask people to only give if they are so inclined because the fight is worth the effort! 

(Note: In the process of caring for IDD individuals, and in dealing with the Neglect and Abuse, it's important to understand that entities that provide tax exempt status are associated with a huge part of the current problem) 

This mission is devoted to GETTING CHANGES INTO LAW, both at the state and federal level, and, PURSUING MEANINGFUL CHANGES in the legal consequences for care facility operators. 

This will be accomplished through face-to-face lobbying, phone calls, emails and social media.
